1 Day Japanese Woodblock Workshop
with
Nadia Narelle Kliendanze
Traditional Japanese Woodcut is an ideal medium for artists without a press. It consists of a relief print made from carved wood blocks using water-based ink and printed by hand. Nadia is a qualified artist with a Masters and Printmaking.
Learn the way that Japanese printmakers have been using for hundreds of years. The workshop will cover the basics, drawing up a design, transfer to the block and then printing the whole print by hand using the burnishing process with a Japanese print baren. This is a process that you can use at home with minimal equipment. You will be printing with watercolour which is completely non-toxic.
At the end of the workshop you will leave with your own unique print ready to frame and hang on your wall. And hopefully the desire to create more woodcuts in the future!
Complete kits to allow you to pursue woodcarving available for purchase at the workshop.
ONE Day Workshop: Tea and coffee available. Morning tea provided. Please bring your own lunch.
